Daytona Beach, Florida When traveling through Florida, you never know when a unique and beautiful landscape will present itself. I was traveling around Daytona Beach after having visited the historic lighthouse and stumbled upon this site. It was totally unexpected and the trees had so much character that I stayed and absorbed the beauty long enough to have someone question my "loitering" outside this estate. |

Daytona Beach, Florida The next set of pics are of the lighthouse in Daytona Beach. It is the tallest lighthouse in the state of Florida. It is the only lighthouse in Florida that still has all the outbuildings used by the lighthouse keeper. Also on display were some beautiful lenses. If you are ever in Daytona Beach, along with driving on the beach, a visit to the lighthouse is a must. The angle in which this photograph is taken is meant to emphasize it's height. |

Everglades Gator near Shark Valley I spent the day in the Everglades looking at the gators, birds, and other interesting creatures. Upon seeing our first gator, Omar and I jumped out of the car. We snapped a couple of photos and then took a step to get a closer look and three gators jumped into the water...three gators we hadn't seen. The following pictures all come from the Everglades. |
|
Bird on a Wire.
Drying out.
Owl in the road.
Keeping an eye on things. Omar was good at spotting the birds while I was good at spotting the gators hiding in the brush. |

Taking flight. |

Beauty abounds.
Everything has to put roots down, somehow - somewhere.
Air Plant
These trees looked like they were wearing Hula skirts. The plant life in the Everglades is as diversified as the wildlife. |

Here comes trouble.
Keeping his head above the water.
Taking a break. More gators.
Hanging out.
Look closely. We didn't and got a surprise.
Roadside gator.
Baby gators.
Going for a dip. |
